We chose this clinic based on the many wonderful reviews of Sonya. Unfortunately, we were assigned to a different dietitian, and our experience was very disappointing. During the initial appointment, she suggested my vegetarian daughter, who finds the thought of eating animals abhorrent, eat vegetarian chicken nuggets to address a nutrient deficiency that she hadn't actually calculated was present. The recommendation seemed to be made before assessing whether there was a deficiency to correct and completely alienated my daughter and did not seem in line with respecting her ethical decisions. The dietician also wanted to book a follow-up appointment to formalise a diagnosis that I explained several times I didn't see any benefit in pursuing, as it wouldn't change either the funding available or the treatment plan. In addition, she recommended reintroducing food groups that everyone in our household reacts to, without clearly explaining the reasoning behind that advice. That would seemingly undo the work we have previously done with a gastric specialist removing those food groups and finding alternatives. Overall, I felt the approach was quite cookie-cutter and lacked individualised clinical reasoning or communication about why these recommendations were being made. When I later called to ask whether we could see a different dietitian, I was simply told to go elsewhere. That response was particularly disappointing, especially from a clinic that presents itself in such a warm manner. I wasn't asking for a refund or making a complaint. I was simply hoping to see a different clinician whose approach or communication style might be a better fit. Sadly, the experience has left my daughter anxious about seeing another dietitian, as she's now worried she'll be pressured to eat nuggets again. I hope this review is taken as constructive feedback and the clinic goes on to help many more people with their issues.

With Sonya, It took four appointments to finally work on a diet plan, which was discussed in the last ten minutes of the session. It was rushed. Using toys as props to explain concepts was childish. Talking about herself and her own neurodivergence was not helpful. It wasn’t helpful to compare me to other clients, and her sons. Comparing me with her sons and other clients was not helpful, and quite unprofessional. I can’t trust that I will be mentioned to future patients of Sonya. Boundaries weren’t there. A lot of money spent. My experience was that she was not prepared for two of the four sessions.
Highly recommend Dietwise. Sonya is amazing with teens and her therapy dogs are fantastic too. Her advice has been very helpful and life changing. Sonya goes above and beyond. Even helping outside hours with any questions you may have over emails. She truly cares. Even a few years after a patient has seen her. Sonya still takes the time to help. Thank you Sonya! Your help has inspired my daughter to follow your path ❤️

Makes a giftGoes well with Mindfulness coaching
Why we picked it
A journal only works if it is short enough to keep doing. This one asks for five minutes and three lines, which is the amount most people will actually write, and undated pages mean no guilt about the gaps. A good gift because nobody buys it for themselves.

Good for beginnersGoes well with Breathwork
Why we picked it
If a breathwork class has left you curious about why any of it works, this is the book to read next. It is a reporter's book rather than a manual, which is why it is so readable, and it sends most people back to class with better questions.
