How these ratings work

These bars are a guide, not a score of this business. Each starts from Oria Haven’s profile of Guided nature & hiking as a kind of session, then is adjusted by facts stored on this listing: its price band, its group size and whether it welcomes beginners.

Nobody has rated this particular venue in person, and reviews are not fed in. Where we have no fact about this listing behind a bar — for example how many people share the room — we leave that bar out rather than guess.

They describe the room — how quiet, how physical, how many people — never what a session is supposed to do for you.

I use a wheelchair went to North Cott, disabled toilet available under the cafe but didn’t check it out in the end should have gone in it. Paths good and flat. Parking can be an issue depending on the carpark you use. Had to drive around to find a suitable park

A must go beach if you are in Perth. It is a long nice beach which is very clean and waves are not ruff, calm water which is good for children. You can enjoy swimming and kayaking. If you like calm beaches this one. There are cafes on the beach where you can enjoy morning with coffee and evening with drinks. You can see a beautiful sunset. You can enjoy even on night.

North Cottesloe Beach is the best beach in the world. A big call but I challenge anyone to find a beach with so many aspects, so clean, always a spot to swim away from other people. While Cottesloe gets the bus loads of tourists, up north it is only the locals and a few lucky backpackers who get across it. Currently the foreshore is undergoing an upgrade, but it will not take away the natural beauty, healthy dunes and squeaky clean and that make it a pleasure to visit.

Wellness journalsThe 5-Minute Gratitude JournalSophia Godkin, PhD

A guided journal with short daily prompts: a few lines in the morning, a few at night. Undated, so a missed day costs nothing.

Makes a gift

Goes well with Mindfulness coaching

Why we picked it

A journal only works if it is short enough to keep doing. This one asks for five minutes and three lines, which is the amount most people will actually write, and undated pages mean no guilt about the gaps. A good gift because nobody buys it for themselves.

Breathwork booksBreath: The New Science of a Lost ArtJames Nestor

James Nestor's account of how we breathe and how we used to, drawing on breathing traditions, pulmonology and his own experiments. Paperback edition.

Good for beginners

Goes well with Breathwork

Why we picked it

If a breathwork class has left you curious about why any of it works, this is the book to read next. It is a reporter's book rather than a manual, which is why it is so readable, and it sends most people back to class with better questions.
