Kundalini Yoga Southwest — Meditation classes in Yallingup
5.0 (6 · Google)
Online availableReset

Kundalini classes from a room in Yallingup, with meditation, sound and breathwork on the same timetable, plus occasional retreats. Kundalini is a different shape of class from a flow — more breath and repetition, less sequence — and the studio says so rather than leaving you to find out.

How Oria chooses these meditation classes places

Every listing is hand-checked by Oria Haven. Figures updated 8 October 2026.

Most relevant means practices that specialise in this first, then the ones with the most reviews to go on. A listing that publishes its price, describes itself and names its services gets a small nudge, never more than a quarter of a star, because you can decide on it without ringing. Paid placements are shown once, in their own band, and never move anyone up the list.

The guide

Before you go: meditation classes in Perth

Some of the longest-running meditation rooms in Perth cost nothing to sit in. Buddhist centres and organisations like Brahma Kumaris have run weekly classes here for decades on donation or for free, which makes the usual advice — start cheap, then commit — easier to follow than in most of this directory.

Formats sort into three shapes. Drop-in classes take you as you come, run 45 to 90 minutes, and need no booking at some centres and a form at others. Courses run over four to eight weeks and assume you’ll attend the series. Sitting groups are the quietest option: less instruction, more practice, usually free and usually weekly.

What newcomers ask most: chairs are available almost everywhere, cross-legged on the floor is never compulsory, and arriving ten minutes early matters more than it sounds — most rooms close the door when they start. Traditions vary from Buddhist and Vipassana lineages to secular mindfulness, and the timetable rarely spells out which is which.

Start with your first meditation class or the free sessions around the metro. Related: mindfulness coaching, retreats and day escapes, sound and float.

Your first visit

What to expect at your first meditation classes session

A guided session in a quiet room. Someone talks, you sit, and that is most of it.

  • Session length 30–60 min
  • Group size 5–30
  • Experience needed None

From arrival to heading home

  1. Before your visit

    • Five to ten minutes early. Latecomers are sometimes not admitted once a session has started, because the door disturbs the room.
    • Anything comfortable you can sit still in for half an hour. Layers — sitting still gets cold.
  2. During the session

    • People arrive quietly and choose a cushion or a chair. Chairs are always available and using one is not a lesser option.
    • A short introduction, often a few words on what the session will involve.
    • The guide talks you through it — attention on the breath, the body, or a repeated phrase, depending on the tradition.
    • Your mind will wander constantly. Noticing that and coming back is the practice, not a failure at it.
    • A few minutes at the end to sit before anyone speaks or moves.

A little preparation

  • What to bring Nothing. Cushions, chairs and blankets are provided.
