About
A functional medicine clinic in Palmyra whose health coaching sits alongside its practitioner consultations: the coach's part is behaviour change and helping people actually carry out the protocol they have been given. Coaches are certified through the Kresser Institute. Appointments are available in the Palmyra rooms or by telehealth nationally, and the group runs telehealth-only clinics in several other capitals.

Read all on GoogleI've been a patient of Dr Jarrod Cooper's for over a year, and reading his book The Healing Hierarchy has given me such a clear understanding of the approach behind my treatment. It explains exactly why the sequence of healing matters, and why addressing the gut first, even when something else feels more urgent, makes such a difference. Dr Jarrod Cooper's clinical care has been thorough and genuinely effective, and this book has only deepened my trust in the process. Highly recommend both the clinic and the book to anyone who feels like they've tried everything and nothing has worked. There is a reason, and there is a framework.
I have had 3 visits (3 months apart each time) in advanced Functional Medicine. Compared with my gut tests 6 months ago my tests results today is greatly improved! 6 months ago I had leaky gut, 2 bad gut bacteria overgrowth, poor gut immune system, not enough good gut bacteria. Today they are all gone and i only need to build up more good bacteria. I am very happy and I am glad it is all working. I have seen Renae. She is very good and caring. I have also seen Celestia she is very professional and knowledgeable too! Just a last bit to share if you are reading this and struggling with your gut. Emotion and nervous system affect our gut a lot. So working on emotion and nervous system with the gut together would bring you good results.
I have been under the care of Monica at this clinic for a number of months now and it has been incredible. Monica is at the top of her game and for the first time I feel that real progress is being made back towards great health. I strongly recommend others with gut health issues to book an appointment with Monica. Her approach is methodical and data based, while being very pleasant, open minded and able to listen which seems rare from my experience.
I’ve seen many doctors, specialists, and professional medical & health practitioners over my almost 40 years search for an answer to a multi-symptom illness, but none have come close to the level of care, attentiveness, and genuine compassion shown by ND Monica Carroll at Advanced Functional Medicine, Palmyra. She truly listens to every concern, takes the time to explain things thoroughly, and goes above and beyond to provide reassurance, clarity & comprehensive testing. Her professionalism and warmth make every visit an exceptionally positive experience. It’s been a rare experience to find a clinic & health professional where the dedication to patient care is the highest priority. For the first time since my illness began I'm experiencing healing & relief, with a couple of my most long-term symptoms either completely eradicated or largely abated, and with the confidence of achieving a complete healing in the near future. I honestly cannot recommend Monica Carroll and Advanced Functional Medicine highly enough — it's an outstanding facility and truly worthy of recognition.
The founder of Advanced Functional Medicine, Jarrod Cooper ND has recently published a book called The Healing Hierarchy that lays out for we health seekers, our step-by-step path to achieving our health goals. This book is truly reader friendly. Reading Part One, Chapter 3: The Healing Hierarchy alone told me much of what this book is centrally about. For the clinical layers, test interpretation, supplement sequencing, and protocol adjustment, I needed to work with one of AFM’s supportive practitioners. Having the knowledge that this book provided, enabled me to know what questions to ask, understand what tests are needed, and what the results should look like. I, personally, have found the book and the practice itself to be very beneficial.
