Most of what’s on this page costs nothing. Peer support groups, recovery meetings, walking groups and community circles run on volunteers, donations or small term fees, and several of the organisations listed have operated in Perth for decades.
The formats differ in ways worth knowing before you walk in. Open meetings admit anyone, including people just wanting to see what happens; closed meetings are for people who identify with the group’s purpose. Peer-led groups are run by people with their own experience of the thing the group is about; facilitated groups have a trained convenor. Men’s groups and women’s circles tend to run as ongoing series where the same people return each month, so joining is easier at the start of a term.
One practical warning: meeting times and venues in this category change more often than any other part of the directory, and church halls and community centres get rebooked at short notice. Ring or check the organisation’s own page before you drive across town.
