BISC is a beautiful sporting complex, however I have a bad review for the Baldivis Volleyball Association who run their club from here. I cannot recommend Baldivis Volleyball Association based on my family's experience. Unfortunately, we found the club environment to be extremely toxic. Rather than promoting teamwork, respect and good sportsmanship, there appeared to be ongoing conflict and immature behaviour between adults involved with the clubs commitee. This created an atmosphere that I believe is a poor example for the young athletes who look to adults for leadership and guidance. Communication and organisation were also disappointing. Important information was not always communicated clearly, and club events seemed to lack proper planning. It was particularly disheartening to see some members seemingly excluded from club events and social activities, which only reinforced the feeling that the club was not inclusive. A junior sporting club should foster respect, fairness, encouragement and a sense of belonging for every player and their family. Sadly, that was not our experience. Instead of feeling supported, we left feeling disappointed by the way concerns were handled and by the overall culture within the club. I sincerely hope the committee takes the opportunity to reflect on the club's culture, improve communication, and ensure all families are treated with fairness, professionalism and respect. The players deserve an environment where volleyball—not politics or personal conflicts—is the focus.

Foam rollersAmazon Basics High-Density Foam Roller, 30cmAmazon Basics

A short, firm foam roller in moulded polypropylene. Small enough to keep beside the mat or take to class.

Everyday use

Goes well with Sleep & Recovery Fitness & Movement

Why we picked it

A roller does not need to be clever. It needs to be firm enough to hold its shape and short enough that you actually use it. This is the plain, inexpensive one, and the 30cm length is the right size for calves, thighs and the upper back without taking over the room.

Massage Ball product photograph
Massage ballsMassage BallTRIGGERPOINT

A two-inch textured rubber ball from TriggerPoint, sized to work underfoot.

Goes well with Massage & Bodywork Sleep & Recovery Fitness & Movement

Why we picked it

Two inches is the size that fits the arch of a foot, which is what separates it from a plain lacrosse ball. The texture grips the floor instead of skidding away. The cheapest way into self-massage tools and the one most likely to get used.

Yoga Mat product photograph
Yoga matsYoga MatHERUI

A yoga mat printed with alignment lines for placing hands and feet.

Goes well with Yoga

Why we picked it

The lines are the whole point. They give you something to check against when you cannot see your own posture and there is no teacher watching, which makes this a mat for practising alone at home rather than in a studio.
