A Finnish sauna house on Erindale Road, grown out of a mobile sauna that spent a couple of years touring Perth before settling into a permanent room. Sessions are built around aufguss — a facilitator working steam and scent through the sauna in rounds — with hot and cold magnesium plunge pools alongside, and a separate private room for anyone who would rather do sauna and ice bath alone. Physiotherapy and massage are booked from the same room, and the lounge runs group classes and events.

Absolutely incredible experience. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm, luxurious, and genuinely welcoming. The attention to detail throughout the space is next level. Beautifully designed recovery areas, pristine facilities, complimentary lounge, tea, electrolytes and water, and an overall vibe that makes it impossible not to relax. The sauna was beautiful, the magnesium bath super relaxing, and the entire session left me feeling completely reset both physically and mentally. You can tell the team is passionate about wellness and creating a premium experience for every guest. What really stands out is how thoughtfully curated everything is. It feels less like a standard wellness centre and more like a retreat hidden in the middle of Perth. Easily one of the best recovery and wellness experiences I’ve had. Can’t wait to come back.
The vibe is immaculate, I love that it’s low lit and relaxing as soon as you walk through the door. The private recovery area was an amazing experience, my partner and I timed our session to split between the steam sauna and cold plunge so we got a lot of our session. There is also a music speaker to listen to your own relaxing playlist (loveeeeee this, so many other saunas don’t offer this) and complimentary electrolyte water and teas. 10/10 recommend to anyone who will listen, we’ll be back again this weekend!
Löyly, Balcatta, Perth’s Finest Sauna Experience As seasoned sauna enthusiasts who have worked our way through many of Perth’s rapidly expanding sauna and recovery scene, we can say without hesitation that Löyly in Balcatta has set a new benchmark. This is, quite simply, the best sauna facility we have visited in Perth. Many know Löyly from its origins as a much-loved mobile sauna operation, bringing the barrel sauna and ice baths to events and private bookings across the city. The leap to a permanent, purpose-built space in Balcatta is a significant one, and the team has absolutely nailed it. Design and Fitout Walking in, you immediately notice the quality of the build. The space has a dark, moody aesthetic that signals relaxation the moment you step through the door. Every detail feels intentional and considered, from the materials to the lighting to the flow between areas. It is clear this was hand-built with genuine passion and an understanding of what makes a great sauna environment. The fitout is beautiful without being ostentatious, warm, grounding, and unmistakably inspired by traditional as well as modern design. The Sauna At the heart of Löyly is a large communal sauna, and it is a showpiece. The Harvia heater is the best we have ever seen, an impressive unit with serious stone mass that produces outstanding löyly. For those unfamiliar with the term, löyly refers to the “spirit of the sauna”, the steam generated when water is cast onto heated stones, and it is the soul of any authentic Finnish sauna experience. Here, the heat is enveloping, even, and deeply satisfying. The sauna is purpose-built for immersive sessions and the quality of the heat reflects that. It is a space designed by people who have strived to understand sauna culture. The Ice Bath The cold plunge is set at a bracing 8°C, cold enough to deliver That rush of endorphins from the contrast without being so extreme that it becomes inaccessible. The transition from the intense dry heat of the sauna to the shock of the ice bath is exhilarating and deeply invigorating. The Magnesium Pool Complementing the hot-cold cycle is a warm magnesium pool held at a soothing 36°C. This is a thoughtful addition that elevates the entire experience. The magnesium-rich water is excellent for easing muscle soreness and tension, and at body temperature it provides a gentle, restorative transition between the extremes of sauna and ice bath. It is the kind of feature that turns a good session into a complete ritual. The Verdict Perth’s sauna culture has grown remarkably in recent years, with new facilities opening across the city and a genuine community forming around contrast therapy and recovery. We have visited many of them. Löyly stands apart. The combination of an exceptional Harvia-powered sauna, a properly cold ice bath, and a warm magnesium pool all housed in a beautifully designed, purpose-built space makes this a complete and satisfying sauna experience. Whether you are a seasoned sauna practitioner or someone curious about dipping a toe (quite literally) into the world of sauna culture, Löyly in Balcatta deserves to be at the top of your list. We had such a special experience at Löyly. From the moment we walked in, we felt instantly calm. The warm lighting and thoughtful space made it so easy to slow down and just be present. We liked how clean the space was. It was exactly what my husband and I needed, we left feeling refreshed and already planning our next visit.
