Vanessa is the personal trainer I didn’t know I needed. I knew I wanted to get stronger and fitter, but I also knew a traditional gym probably wouldn’t work for me. Having a set time each week and someone expecting me to turn up means I actually make exercise a priority, rather than finding reasons not to do it. Vanessa takes time to get to know you and tailors a program to your individual goals and fitness levels. She’s patient, explains things clearly (and is happy to explain them again and again), and has created a very supportive environment and community. I would definitely recommend Strive for Fitness.

How these ratings work
These bars are a guide, not a score of this business. Each starts from Oria Haven’s profile of Guided nature & hiking as a kind of session, then is adjusted by facts stored on this listing: its price band, its group size and whether it welcomes beginners.
Nobody has rated this particular venue in person, and reviews are not fed in. Where we have no fact about this listing behind a bar — for example how many people share the room — we leave that bar out rather than guess.
They describe the room — how quiet, how physical, how many people — never what a session is supposed to do for you.

My experience at Strive for Fitness has been great. Vanessa is an excellent coach who tailors your sessions specifically for you and your goals. Working out in small groups with other likeminded women makes getting fit interactive and lots of fun. Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

IllustrationA short, firm foam roller in moulded polypropylene. Small enough to keep beside the mat or take to class.
Everyday useGoes well with Sleep & Recovery · Fitness & Movement
Why we picked it
A roller does not need to be clever. It needs to be firm enough to hold its shape and short enough that you actually use it. This is the plain, inexpensive one, and the 30cm length is the right size for calves, thighs and the upper back without taking over the room.

A two-inch textured rubber ball from TriggerPoint, sized to work underfoot.
Goes well with Massage & Bodywork · Sleep & Recovery · Fitness & Movement
Why we picked it
Two inches is the size that fits the arch of a foot, which is what separates it from a plain lacrosse ball. The texture grips the floor instead of skidding away. The cheapest way into self-massage tools and the one most likely to get used.

A yoga mat printed with alignment lines for placing hands and feet.
Goes well with Yoga
Why we picked it
The lines are the whole point. They give you something to check against when you cannot see your own posture and there is no teacher watching, which makes this a mat for practising alone at home rather than in a studio.
