How beauty & self-care is taught in Perth
Salons and skin clinics are listed together here, and the title on the door tells you less than the qualification of the person treating you.
A beauty therapist covers facials, waxing, brows, lashes and nails. A dermal therapist or dermal clinician has additional training and works with the treatments that go deeper — peels, microneedling, LED and light-based work — usually after a consultation rather than a straight booking. Some clinics are doctor-led and offer prescription treatments; those are a different kind of appointment and are not listed as services here.
On practicalities: first appointments at a skin clinic are often a consultation rather than a treatment, and paying for one is normal. Patch tests are standard before tinting, lash work and some peels, and a salon that insists on one is doing its job. Courses of treatments are usually sold at a discount, so be reasonably sure of the practitioner before committing to six.
Related: facials, skin treatments, lashes and brows, nails, and waxing.
