How these ratings work

These bars are a guide, not a score of this business. Each starts from Oria Haven’s profile of Meditation as a kind of session, then is adjusted by facts stored on this listing: its price band, its group size and whether it welcomes beginners.

Nobody has rated this particular venue in person, and reviews are not fed in. Where we have no fact about this listing behind a bar — for example how many people share the room — we leave that bar out rather than guess.

They describe the room — how quiet, how physical, how many people — never what a session is supposed to do for you.

I can’t recommend Krista’s Vedic Meditation course highly enough!! The past year has brought some huge life challenges for me and a few months ago I found myself in a place of fear, self doubt, anxiety and disempowerment. Krista came into my life in Divine Timing, teaching me the Vedic Meditation technique I now practice daily. After attending one of her recent retreats, things really fell into place for me. I finally found time to put myself first, listen to my body and allow fears and past traumas to surface, process and integrate in the safe container that Krista holds. Krista is such a warm, bubbly and down to earth person and the technique she teaches is simple, yet powerfully effective. I really can’t imagine NOT meditating twice daily and now it is my Sanctuary, where I have found an inner state of joy and resilience, a deep connection to my soul and a newfound confidence in life. Thank you beautiful Krista! 🙏🥰✨🪷

A Truly Transformative Retreat Experience. Krista is a truly beautiful soul and an incredible meditation and yoga teacher. I had the pleasure of attending one of her retreats this year, and I received far more than I could have ever signed up for. Krista offers support and guidance that genuinely comes from the heart, sharing her knowledge and wisdom so freely and joyfully. The retreat itself felt like an alchemy of flow, deep relaxation, and guided practices. It was more than just a getaway; it was a vacation for my nervous system, a reset for my mind, and inspiration for my heart. You leave not just refreshed, but equipped with tools you can actually implement into your daily life. Krista is the perfect person to reach out to whether you want to start meditating with a time-proven technique or book a retreat that will support you long after you return home. She embodies the roles of a gentle guide and a joyful friend, always ready with a smile and a laugh. If you are hesitating, consider this your sign—reserve your spot on the cushion next to her!

Attending Krista’s meditation retreat in Bali was a genuinely enriching experience. Her deep knowledge of Vedic meditation and the way she shares it is both inspiring and accessible. Krista brings both warmth and clarity that made it easy to settle into the practice. Throughout the retreat, she guided us with a steady, intuitive presence—blending traditional Vedic principles with modern insight in a way that felt both timeless and completely relevant. This retreat left me feeling deeply re-centered and with a renewed appreciation for the simplicity and depth of Vedic meditation. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a meaningful and restorative journey inward.

Meditation cushionsRetrospec Sedona Zafu Meditation CushionRetrospec

A crescent zafu filled with buckwheat hulls, with a washable cotton cover and a carry handle. Sits you a little higher than the floor so the knees drop and the back stays upright.

Good for beginners

Goes well with Meditation classes

Why we picked it

The thing most people are missing when they say they cannot sit still is a cushion of the right height. A crescent shape gives the thighs somewhere to go, and buckwheat can be added or taken out until it is yours. It is the first thing we would put in a meditation corner.

A rectangular bolster with a firm core and a soft surface, handmade in the USA. The shape used in restorative and yin classes.

Everyday use

Goes well with Meditation classes Yoga

Why we picked it

Restorative yoga is mostly the art of being held up by the right prop, and a bolster is the prop. Hugger Mugger's has been the studio standard for decades because the core does not go soft. Under the knees, along the spine, or across the lap for a long sit.

Jon Kabat-Zinn's short chapters on mindfulness in everyday life, from the founder of mindfulness-based stress reduction. Paperback edition.

Why we picked it

The one meditation book we would hand to someone who has never sat down to meditate. The chapters are two or three pages each, secular in tone, and you can open it anywhere. Thirty years on it is still the plainest introduction there is.
