How Oria chooses these fitness & movement places

2 of the 3 fitness & movement listings in the directory match this view. The count is live, and the order puts specialists first — paid placement never moves anyone up it.

As of October 2026, 2 of the 3 Fitness & Movement listings on Oria Haven are in this view (Margaret River) — counted live from the directory.

Every listing is hand-checked by Oria Haven. Figures updated 8 October 2026.

Most relevant means practices that specialise in this first, then the ones with the most reviews to go on. A listing that publishes its price, describes itself and names its services gets a small nudge, never more than a quarter of a star, because you can decide on it without ringing. Paid placements are shown once, in their own band, and never move anyone up the list.

The guide

Before you go: Pilates in the Margaret River region

The first thing to sort out is reformer or mat, because they are priced, booked and taught differently. Reformer classes use the spring-loaded machine, run in small groups because there are only so many beds in the room, and almost every studio will put you through a foundation class or two before letting you into the general timetable — not an upsell, just how the machine is taught. Mat classes need none of that, take more people, and cost noticeably less.

Reformer studios generally ask for grip socks, and sell them at the desk if you arrive without. Class sizes are small enough that popular times book out days ahead. Almost every studio runs an introductory offer for new students, which is the cheapest way to try two or three rooms before you commit to a membership you then have to use.

Your first visit

What to expect at your first pilates session

Mat Pilates is a small class on the floor. Reformer Pilates is a small class on a machine, and most studios want you to do an introductory session before joining one.

  • Session length 45–60 min
  • Group size 6–14
  • Experience needed None for mat; an intro class first for reformer

From arrival to heading home

  1. Before your visit

    • Ten to fifteen minutes early for a first reformer class. Setting up the bed to your height is done with the instructor.
    • Fitted clothes rather than loose — the instructor needs to see how you are moving. Grip socks are required at most reformer studios and can usually be bought at reception.
  2. During the session

    • A short chat about injuries and anything you are working around.
    • On reformer, the instructor sets your footbar, springs and headrest, and shows you how the carriage moves before anything starts.
    • Exercises are called out and demonstrated, then the class works through them together with the instructor walking the room.
    • Expect quiet form corrections, usually spoken and sometimes a hand on a shoulder or hip. You can ask for no hands-on and that will be respected.
    • Classes are small, so you will be seen — which is the point, not a hazard.

A little preparation

  • What to bring Water, and grip socks if you have them.
