⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I couldn’t recommend Essence Pilates and Bodyworks highly enough! The class times are fantastic and fit easily into a busy schedule. Every instructor is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and always keeps the sessions fresh by changing up the workouts. What really stands out is how attentive the instructors are. They know exactly what they’re doing and are always there to guide you through each exercise, making adjustments when needed to ensure you’re getting the most out of every movement. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced member, every class caters to all fitness levels. The membership packages are excellent value, and the supportive atmosphere keeps you coming back. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Selena and her amazing team are simply the best! Thank you from Jo

A Hardy Street studio running barre alongside reformer and matwork, which is less common than it sounds — most Perth barre classes sit in gyms rather than Pilates studios.

What it’s like
The studio is explicit that no dance background is expected; its own test is whether you can hold a barre. Yoga and private sessions run on the same timetable.

How these ratings work
These bars are a guide, not a score of this business. Each starts from Oria Haven’s profile of Yoga as a kind of session, then is adjusted by facts stored on this listing: its price band, its group size and whether it welcomes beginners.
Nobody has rated this particular venue in person, and reviews are not fed in. Where we have no fact about this listing behind a bar — for example how many people share the room — we leave that bar out rather than guess.
They describe the room — how quiet, how physical, how many people — never what a session is supposed to do for you.
Why our editors picked it
Run this practice? Download the seal for your website“Reformer, matwork and barre on one timetable, so you can start on the mat and move to the machine when you're ready — or the other way round. The studio says plainly that no dance background is expected; its own test is whether you can hold a barre.”
Best Of guides are an editorial selection. A practice cannot pay to be in one.

I have been a member of Essence Pilates for about 12 years & just love it .Essence is a lovely boutique studio with a very friendly environment. They offer a range of classes reformer .mat, barre yoga and the new weighted mat class. All the teachers are very discreetly accommodating to each client’s individual need / injuries and will always adjust the classes accordingly. Highly recommended!! Great studio !!
Such a great pilates studio! I've been going to classes here for over 3 years, and really love it. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. The classes are challenging, but always offer options for different levels. I particularly enjoy Saturday morning reformer and the new weighted matwork class. Highly recommend!

IllustrationA short, firm foam roller in moulded polypropylene. Small enough to keep beside the mat or take to class.
Everyday useGoes well with Sleep & Recovery · Fitness & Movement
Why we picked it
A roller does not need to be clever. It needs to be firm enough to hold its shape and short enough that you actually use it. This is the plain, inexpensive one, and the 30cm length is the right size for calves, thighs and the upper back without taking over the room.

A two-inch textured rubber ball from TriggerPoint, sized to work underfoot.
Goes well with Massage & Bodywork · Sleep & Recovery · Fitness & Movement
Why we picked it
Two inches is the size that fits the arch of a foot, which is what separates it from a plain lacrosse ball. The texture grips the floor instead of skidding away. The cheapest way into self-massage tools and the one most likely to get used.

A yoga mat printed with alignment lines for placing hands and feet.
Goes well with Yoga
Why we picked it
The lines are the whole point. They give you something to check against when you cannot see your own posture and there is no teacher watching, which makes this a mat for practising alone at home rather than in a studio.
