Essence Pilates — Fitness & Movement in South Perth
4.9 (52 · Google)

A Hardy Street studio running barre alongside reformer and matwork, which is less common than it sounds — most Perth barre classes sit in gyms rather than Pilates studios. The studio is explicit that no dance background is expected; its own test is whether you can hold a barre. Yoga and private sessions run on the same timetable.

Flow Hot Yoga & Pilates — Fitness & Movement in Wangara

A northern-suburbs studio running the Bikram sequence — twenty-six postures in front of a mirror at 38 degrees — alongside a heated vinyasa flow, reformer Pilates and unheated yin. Beginners' yoga runs as its own class rather than as an afterthought, and the studio is explicit that flexibility, strength and balance are not entry requirements.

Hot For Yoga — Yoga in Jandakot
5.0 (56 · Google)

A Bikram studio south of the river, running the original set sequence in a heated room. The studio makes a point of the practice being for people who do not think of themselves as yoga people — its own words are that you do not need to be fit, or young, or a devotee — and first-timers are given mat and towel hire at no cost. An introductory pass covers twenty-five days of unlimited classes.

Worth knowing

A course — the same dozen people for four to six weeks, taught in sequence — assumes nothing in week one and usually works out cheaper per class than it looks, even when the block price is higher. A mixed-level class with a welcome note is cheaper to try and fine if you have done a little before; arrive ten minutes early and say so at the desk.

Every studio on this page has said, on its own website or timetable, that it runs something for people starting out. Where a studio hasn't said so it simply isn't listed here — that is not a statement that beginners are unwelcome, only that nobody has checked.

Beginner yoga in Perth — common questions

What counts as a beginners' yoga class?

Two different things, and this page lists both. One is a course with an intake date that starts everyone together and assumes nothing; the other is a mixed-level class the studio states is suitable for people with no experience. The listing says which.

How many Perth yoga studios run classes for beginners?

25 of the 42 yoga listings in the directory publish a beginners' class, a course, or an all-levels welcome. The number is live and changes as listings are checked.

Is a beginners' course better than a mixed-level class?

Different, rather than better. A course starts everyone together and explains nothing twice; a mixed-level class is easier to drop into and usually cheaper per visit. If you have never done a class, the course is the gentler way in.

How does a studio end up on this page?

Only by publishing it themselves — a beginners' class on the timetable, a course with an intake, or a plain statement that classes suit all levels. We record where we read it. An intro discount on its own does not count.
