Ice bath & cold plunge in Perth — listings

Alchemy Saunas — Sleep & Recovery in East Perth
4.3 (12 · Google)

Twelve venues across Perth, most of them within sight of water — Scarborough Beach, City Beach, Cottesloe, Port Beach and Point Walter among them, alongside indoor rooms in West Leederville, East Perth, Burswood, Nedlands and Karrinyup shopping centre. Sessions run a flat sixty minutes on the hour and are communal rather than private, with venue capacities between seven and twenty. Cold water varies by site: ice pools, ice baths, ice showers, a magnesium pool, and at the beach venues the ocean itself. Booking is through the studio's own app.

$20 / session View profile
Ember Bath House — Beauty & Self-Care in Osborne Park

A communal bathhouse on Donovan Street, Osborne Park: a Finnish sauna, steam room, hot mineral bath and ice bath taken as a circuit on a day pass, with a treatment menu of massage, facials, body treatments and pregnancy massage alongside. All-gender and 18-plus, swimwear required; open seven days, from 6am on Thursdays and Fridays and until 8pm most nights. Packages, memberships and gift cards are sold on the site.

Löyly Recovery — Community & Support in Stirling
5.0 (147 · Google)

A Finnish sauna house on Erindale Road, grown out of a mobile sauna that spent a couple of years touring Perth before settling into a permanent room. Sessions are built around aufguss — a facilitator working steam and scent through the sauna in rounds — with hot and cold magnesium plunge pools alongside, and a separate private room for anyone who would rather do sauna and ice bath alone. Physiotherapy and massage are booked from the same room, and the lounge runs group classes and events.

Melt Sauna & Cold Plunge — Fitness & Movement in Subiaco

A Forrest Street room in Subiaco running sauna and cold plunge in thirty or sixty minute blocks, with availability deliberately capped so the space stays quiet rather than filled. Unusually for a sauna address, the timetable also carries Pilates and yoga classes and Brazilian lymphatic massage, and there is a drinks list — matcha and cacao — for afterwards. Showers and change rooms are on site.

Peak Performance Institute — Fitness & Movement in West Leederville

A West Leederville training and recovery room where the cold plunge and infrared sauna sit alongside the gym floor rather than in a separate wellness space. Compression boots, red light and shock wave therapy are on the same menu as pilates and yoga classes, which makes it more of an athlete's setup than a spa. Open from 6.30am on weekdays and Saturday mornings, closed Sundays.

Perth Hills Pilates — Breathwork in Mahogany Creek

Boutique reformer studios in Mahogany Creek and Kalamunda running fifty-plus classes a week since 2022 — reformer and restorative reformer alongside sound baths, meditation, breathwork and nervous-system regulation programs. The Mahogany Creek studio adds The Sanctuary, a sauna and cold plunge, plus a creche for the Mini + Me classes, and the team runs retreats as far afield as Ningaloo.

Sauna & Ice Bath Booragoon — Sleep & Recovery in Booragoon

How spa & recovery is taught in Perth

Recovery rooms sell time rather than treatments, and the price on the board is usually for the slot, not the thing you do in it.

The sessions differ more than the marketing suggests. A sauna is a long warm sit you can talk through; an ice bath is two or three minutes and you will not want to talk. Contrast therapy alternates the two and takes about an hour with the changing. Float tanks are an hour on your own in dark salt water, which some people find restful and others find far too quiet. Infrared saunas run cooler than traditional ones and feel less punishing, and sound baths belong here too — you lie down, someone plays bowls and gongs, and nothing is required of you.

On practicalities: most studios sell memberships that only make sense if you go weekly, and casual rates are the honest way to find out whether you will. Bring or hire a towel, allow twenty minutes on top of the session for changing and showering, and book contrast in the middle of the day if you would rather not drive home cold.

Related: infrared sauna, ice baths, contrast therapy, float therapy, sound healing, and red light therapy.
